One area I haven’t covered yet in my Grandview Spotlight series is brunch. Problem solved with a visit to Third and Hollywood! This little spot is off the main drag of Grandview Ave., but it is one hidden gem that you won’t want to miss. If you love North Star, you will adore Third & Hollywood, owned by the same folks and featuring local and health-conscious options.

For starters, order up the Iron Skillet of Cheddar Herb Biscuits. Just do it, don’t argue. These biscuits are buttery, cheesy, and full of flavor. The only thing that can make them better? More cheese, naturally. Slather on the restaurant’s signature pimento cheese for the perfect treat to kick off your morning. The Grilled Artichokes, served with remoulade for dipping, and the Bacon Wrapped Roasted Dates, stuffed with goat cheese, are pretty tasty appetizers too though!
When selecting an entree, you really can’t go wrong. If you are leaning towards lunch, the vegetarian-friendly Corn and Black Bean Burger, topped with smoked gouda and guac, can’t be beat. But I have to recommend the Croque Madame: Nueske’s ham, gouda, and fried eggs, with an arugula salad on the side. The portion is huge, so I was excited to have leftovers for the next day’s breakfast. Sample the Iron Skillet Chorizo & Eggs, served up with veggies, black beans, avocado, and gouda for a Southwestern treat. Another table favorite was The “Steak and Eggs,” a dish of sliced beef tenderloin, fingerling potatoes, and two sunny-side-up eggs; this plate is hearty and satisfying as well.
Wash all of this deliciousness down with a mimosa, or one of the brunch cocktail offerings like the Brown Derby. This concoction is a true eye-opener, consisting of Maker’s Mark Bourbon, grapefruit, and honey. You can catch the brunch menu at Third & Hollywood from 11 AM-4 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.
